9-Foot Crocodile Caught Inside K.H.M.H. Compound
The Karl Heusner has completely outdone the Western Regional Hospital where wildlife is concerned. Yes there has been a snake or two at the WRH, but on Sunday the K.H.M.H. hauled out a nine foot crocodile. We don’t mean to make light of a potentially very dangerous situation, but what else can you do when a huge crocodile shows up at the nation’s largest referral hospital? We’re told the crocodile was found in the bushes behind the K.H.M.H. and promptly captured and removed without injury to persons or animal. Today Mayor Bradley told us that startling appearance is a sign that people need to start clearing out their lots.
Darrell Bradley, Belize City Mayor
“We got a report of snakes in the vicinity of people’s homes and them wanting them removed. And quite early, I think it was around midday, we got a report of a quite large crocodile. I think we dispatched two or three people including one of our Councillors who had gone on the scene to just look at the crocodile but that was a situation which I think was averted quite early. I think that this brings us back to the larger questions that we need to look at. I have always maintained that it is not in the event of an emergency or that aftermath that you start to look at planning issues. We have had a significant problem in relation to people clearing their lots. Those are areas which harbour rats, rodents, cause disease, harbour snakes, harbour crocodiles, so that these are things that we need to look at not only in the event of a disaster but in the event of normalcy.”
Observers are figuring that the crocodile somehow made its way from the lagoon behind St. John’s College when streets were completely flooded.
Which nurse brought this rodent to work?
Ja Ja this is a joke. Which minister will blame a nurse for bringing this reptile into the compound of the hospital?
