Who Dropped the Bag With Passports and Birth Certificates?

Tonight, there is a huge scandal brewing in the west after a knapsack containing passports from various countries, birth certificates, police reports and other documents was found inside a business establishment in San Ignacio. News Five has confirmed that the knapsack was found inside Studio Seven early this afternoon, and was searched by the owner of the business in an attempt to determine who had left it there. That is when the startling discovery was made and Police were immediately called in. This evening a crowd gathered in front of the San Ignacio Police Station to demand immediate action because they say that the owner of the knapsack is a known U.D.P. operative and the contents certainly point to, at the very least, human trafficking. Officer Commanding the Cayo Formation, Superintendent Andrew Ramirez, told us that they have handed over the find to Belmopan and are awaiting instructions.

“The CIB team here in San Ignacio, Sgt. Gonzalez and Detective Requeña had visited a location here in San Ignacio where a black bag was handed over to the police by a female person. However, prior to it being handed over to the police, it was opened in the presence of some individuals including I think Mister Michel Chebat who is running for the People’s United Party for the upcoming General Elections. Several items were seen including passports and police records, amongst others. These items are presently in possession of the police. They had Salvadoran passport, Honduran passport, American passport and Belizean passport. We at the police department level, if we suspect there is any case of what we refer to as traffic in persons, we need to refer that matter to the Major Crimes Unit under the guise of Head National CIB and that has been done. Mister Myvette, the Commander of National CIB has assured me that he’ll be sending an investigative team to monitor the situation. The police does not want to be pulled into any kind of political allegation, amongst others and hence the reason I had spoken to Mister Chebat and I informed him what was the way the role and the way forward in terms of police investigation. We have to perform our job objectively and professionally so we don’t believe that we should take instruction or directive from any political avenue because we do not want to be caught up. Right now we are in tide in relation, here in San Ignacio, in politics. Every situation appears to have some kind of political connotation and this more than likely is also one of them. It will not be the last because we are going to the finishing line to the General Elections on November the fourth. But I’ll just hope that better heads can prevail. Let the police do their job openly and objectively. I have no political agenda in relation to how I do my work, but I just ask that we work professionally and objectively. The bag was found in a business establishment and like anyone, if you see an item that is abandoned for a certain time, you would want to know one, if it is drug that’s planted in your business establishment; if it is a firearm that has been planted in your business establishment. As a matter of fact, I believe that that would have been the first suspicion of the individual. Or could it have been a bomb, amongst others. So that is the situation right now.”

    coincidentally right around election..sounds staged.

  2. Marie says:

Corruption in broad daylight, right in your face. They know who was entered their business and recognized the individual. Easy case. Everyone involved in the handling should be investigated and terminated pending outcome plus given jailtime.

  3. N.I.P says:

All I have to say is that if it turns out to be linked to U.D.P then this case will disappear or go just left as is since no enough “evidence” are there. same old same old.. Politicians and gang control this country

This is a clear example of our corrupt justice system I bet it would have been anyone else we would be detained already but not everyone is subject to the law. in the words of Animal Farm
” ALL Animals are equal but some Animals are more Equal than others” This really has me not believing in this justice system.

  5. Observer says:

It seems like he was extending services to these people whereby their passports are stamped to extend their time in Belize, however, according to Godwin Hulse the law that governs this has been amended last year and this is now illegal (people must go in themselves to get their passports stamped); goes to show that our immigration officers along with people like Charlie are on the hustle. But lets not forget the situation where 200 passports went missing under Carmen’s Zetina’s watch. Both parties are disgusting for engaging in these acts.

latest is that they still have not brought in the culprit of this crime seems everyone except the police knows who the person is. So if you want to commit a crime now a days just make sure you are also involved in human trafficking and you will be fine as the police will consult with belmopan first to see whether or not they can arrest you.

RELIABLE SOCIAL MEDIA is circulating that peope who posted pics of the passports are being sought by the police for spreading the images. According to the source it comes from the top brass of the B.P.DEP. so to show how corrupt our gov. is and has been in the past. But never the less it will end as nothing happen in a few days everyone will forget and live a normal life except some of us who don’t forget the atrocities being committed over and over.
