P.U.P. Leader Concerned That U.D.P. Engaging in Voter Tampering

P.U.P. leader Francis Fonseca also chimed in this morning on the knapsack passports. Fonseca says he fears that U.D.P. operatives may be engaged in tampering with the voters list and in the binders at the Elections and Boundaries Commission.

“We are very, very concerned about it. It is absolutely alarming. It validates a lot of the reports that we have been getting over the last few weeks about U.D.P. operatives who are engaged in trying to bring in foreign nationals to participate in this election. We understand that the police are in possession of the documents. We hope and demand that there will be a thorough and full investigation of this matter and that not just because it is election season that certain people will turn a blind eye to what is taking place. So we are very concerned. We are concerned that the binders at the Elections and Boundaries Commission may be interfered with. That is a concern. We are getting reports of them taking photos of foreign nationals with these passports, giving them nationality documents; taking these pictures and replacing pictures in the binders with their pictures. So there are a lot of concerns that we have. We certainly hope and pray that that is not something that is being done by the government because that is a very dangerous road for Belize to travel. We have had a long history of peaceful elections, of fair elections and we in the P.U.P. are absolutely committed to continuing that tradition, but we expect the government to ensure that these elections are fair and that their operatives are not engaging in fraud and manipulation of the voters lists and are not interfering with the binders which are sacred—the binders at the Elections and Boundaries Commission. So we will be very vigilant. We have all eyes on the Elections and Boundaries Commission; we have all eyes on the offices around the country to ensure that there is no fraud and manipulation. But we expect answers from the government; we expect answers from the Commissioner of Police on this latest matter involving a U.D.P. operative in possession of foreign passports and other documents which we believe were a part of a wider practice of trying to fraudulently register voters.”

On the last election, gangs kept people from voting. Nothing done about it, as it should be.
Even if they did vote, I declare the winners, not the people. They need a strong hand, and you are not it.
Why do you think you could not recall Penner?
The fact that you could not do that sez you are going to loose the next election. Can’t pour piss out of a boot.
