Said Musa Says Fort George is a Safe Seat
On the campaign trail today, we headed to Daly Street, one of the main streets in the Fort George division, where the former two-term Prime Minister of Belize and current sitting area representative is Said Musa. He’s also held responsibility for the ministries of Finance, Education and Sports, Foreign Affairs and Attorney General and has dominated the political landscape for twenty-six years. Musa has been the representative for Fort George for six consecutive terms and he is about to go for a record seventh term in office. He’s confident that residents in his division will return him to office.
Said Musa, P.U.P. Candidate, Fort George
“The major concern if I can speak just for Fort George is housing situation. The government over the past eight years has not built any homes in the Fort George division and as a result many of the older homes in the area have deteriorated very badly as indeed showed up in the recent storm that we had. Many of our people were badly affected and in certain areas we may have to do a complete reconstruction and renovation; like in Majestic Alley for instance and in many parts of the Pickstock Hutment area as well. And just going around, people assume that in Fort George people are well off, but the fact is that we have growing poverty as well in the Fort George division and that has a lot to do with the neglect of maintenance by this government. They’ve spent all the money on streets with no drains and as a result people were flooded out terribly and lost many of their valuables, the little valuables and personal effects that they had. So we have a lot of work to do when the People’s United Party forms the government. There is no if about it my brother, it will be when. The P.U.P. will form the government. You just have to go around the country and you can sense the change that is taking place. The tide has shifted for the blue and I have no doubt in my mind. Like I said before, I’ve been through many elections and I can sense it in the air. The handwriting is on the wall; it will be a P.U.P. Power to the People victory come November the fourth. One of the things that has distressed me and why I am running again—perhaps for the last time—is the fact that too many lives have been wasted; too many young people are being wasted; too many are being killed; too many are sitting around not knowing where the next meal will come from because they are unable to get a job. So unemployment is a very, very big situation that we will have to address very aggressively in the next P.U.P. government.”
Not so fast Said, I have not decided if you will keep your seat.
You are useful to me. Just know your place under my thumb.
You know how elections work.
Last election was a test of the new election system.
This time we have all the bugs worked out, and worked in.
You could not recall Penner. Know who owns Belize. The more corrupt steals harder.
he has been there for 6 terms as deputy prime minister and 2 as prime minister. how can there still be broken homes?
Go ahead Said Musa . Fort George is one sure sure seat for the PUP. Yes Jobs Jobs should be number one priority for the next PUP government on November 5, 2015. Ja Ja We should celebrate the minute the radios announce the number 16 member of the PUP group for the next government.
