He Sold Weed to Make Money to Pay for a Police Record
As incredible as it sounds, twenty-year old Maverick Akeem Forbes felt the need to commit a crime to get a fifteen-dollar police record. That’s what Forbes told Senior Magistrate Sharon Fraser this morning. Tonight, the Hunter Lane resident is on remand at the Belize Central Prison for a week pending sentencing after he pleaded guilty to one count of possession of fourteen grams of marijuana found stashed inside his underwear during a search on him on Tuesday. Although the amount was only fourteen grams and Forbes was charged with possession of a controlled drug, the Senior Magistrate informed him that because he admitted to selling the weed, he should have been charged with drug trafficking. This is when he told the court that he needed money for a police record. But the Magistrate was not pleased at all and when he returns to court next week Monday, he needs to tell the court why he should not remain in prison.

Mr. Faber You have failed these people man. Yet you are, I am sure, asking them to vote for you.
Why is it so easy to blame someone else for our own fault? I have been working for years and years now and still I’m working and people call me to offer job. And you tell me no job! It is hard or almost impossible for someone to come to your house and offer you a job. Now a days people cannot offer work to just any one. That’s why I said if you don’t have a job the only one in fault is you! Stop blaming and take responsibility.
