In the wake of the Penner passport scandal, the Immigration and Nationality Department has been walking on eggshells. The ministry came under intense scrutiny amid the fiasco and since then, the government announced new systems and policies in an effort to thwart immigration offences within the department. It is uncertain whether those policies extend to the unlawful possession of passports and birth certificates. Hulse, nevertheless, went on to describe the process, discouraging individuals from engaging in such activities.

“We do not sell nationalities, we do not encourage anybody who wants to shortcut the process. But to ensure that that could not happen we set in a very detailed process. Some of you swearing in today, not all of, you saw your names in the papers, files went to a committee. As the C.E.O. mentioned, the committee is structured [so] that it has representatives from everybody in the country. The reason behind it is when I became Minister of Immigration I saw nationality, ladies and gentlemen, like marriage. I am proud to walk down the street with my wife, it should be public. We shouldn’t have secret and private wives in little corners or secret and private husbands, everybody should know who your husband and wife is and your children. And so I didn’t think that we should have secret and private little citizens, it’s a public thing, everybody should know. But better yet, everybody should know who everybody is who has become a citizen and that is why we publish your names in the gazette so that if you don’t live at the address you said you live or somebody says, “I have never heard of that person” they can help us. So making citizens now is an effort for all Belizeans, you now included as well.”
We can’t confirm if today’s swearing-in is linked, but a group of seven persons were surely preparing to obtain nationality. We say that because of Monday’s find of a knapsack containing the passports and nationality application documents of four Salvadorans, one Honduran, one US and a Guatemalan national at a print shop in San Ignacio. An investigation is ongoing into the irregular discovery and police can only say at this time that a number of persons have been interviewed in respect of the passports and documents. Among the passports was one belonging to Belizean Charles Cabral, a highly connected U.D.P. operative. Cabral is a resident of Cayo who campaigns in Cayo North East. Police could not confirm if he has been questioned. The discovery of the documents has sparked outrage in the Cayo District where people have been protesting. The People’s United Party has called for a thorough investigation.

Mr Hulse you are a joke. When The Penner scandal, You could have prevented all minister from interfering in the immigration department. But NO all what you did was to put more trouble and back and forth on the real Belizeans. Just to renew a passport I had to travel to Belmopan THREE time to get this document. I saw people from San Pedro, Yo Creek, even from far as Toledo who had to return again with the same papers. Every time people visit this office in Belmopan, its very crowded. Imagine if one has to come from PG three time —- food and transportation and that is not all, the days of work that were lost. At least one good thing you could have done ——-set district offices for people to renew passports and permits. But any how, good-by and hope that you never return to be part of a future government.
Before someone becomes a national of Belize, laws need to be implemented such as living in the country for 7years, not visiting. speaking the language and contributing to the economic growth by having proprietary investment or farming the land. Belizean have a hard time getting passports and land when it is easily given to immigrants.
THE ONLY….ONLY WAY THIS CAN…CAN BE INVESTIGATED IS BY CHANGING THIS GOV.

Growing up with Godwin Hulse, the man has never been on the bright side of life.
Flashback to early 70s, this man walk into Barclays Bank on Albert Street and wrote on a Barclays deposit slip that “this iz a stikkup.” But the lines were moving slow, so the robber, crossed the street, and walk into the Royal Bank of Canada and handed the not to Godwin Hulse who was working there as a teller.
Godwin Hulse took the note, and told the thief that he could not accept his stick up note because it was written on a Barclays Bank deposit slip and that he would either have to fill out a Royal Bank of Canada deposit slip or go back to Barclays Bank.
I could go on about the time Godwin Hulse lost a bicycle race without being a contestant but enough said.
