…And Chamber of Commerce pleads for G.O.B. intervention
The private sector is joining the chorus to end the chaos at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. The Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry today sent out a release urging central government to resolve the dispute between the K.H.M.H. administration and the Belize Medical and Dental Union. The Chamber says the matter should be addressed urgently because further delays pose a direct threat to Belize’s health care system. The release states “The results of the rapid audit demand decisive action by the K.H.M.H. board and failure to act on these findings is in effect making allowances for the questionable activity in the administration of the hospital. Further, the issue of alleged corruption and irregularities with respect to the purchase of pharmaceuticals ought to be approached with due diligence and objectivity in the final and comprehensive audit report of the K.H.M.H.”
