Patrick Jones, Reporting
Whether it?s a fever…bad belly…or the common cold, the cure, he says, is in one of these buckets. Brandishing exotic plants like Talawala, John Charles, and Jackass Bitters, self taught engineer of herbal remedies Regienald Hamilton, wants you to sample one of his special brews.

Located at 25 Racoon Street, Regie?s Tea House will offer an assortment of local and imported teas for the connoisseur of alternative medicine.

Regienald Hamilton, Managing Director, Regie?s Tea House
?To really let people get back into traditional healing, as the way they are supposed to. Because, you know, of recent people have been in Belize living from young to old, they have migrated to the United States and no one don?t know what is a glass of provision tea or a glass of fever grass. They should if they like Belizean locally grown.?

The teas are prepared from a variation of medicinal plants, which he collects from various sources. Hamilton says it takes a special skill and lots of time to prepare the teas to ensure maximum benefit.

Regienald Hamilton
?It is not any of them that could mix together with other. So that?s where I come in as engineer behind this field to really give you the best of my knowledge and to really push you over and say what is best for you to have for intake. Note that people have been tremendously taking stuff based upon what they hear or based on what they feel. And we don?t have control over human emotion when it comes to dealing with substances. You cannot dictate a lifestyle for a person, but if you give them caution, if you let them know of the knowledge that you have–Like I am–I am knowledgeable and I have a little knowledge, so I share that with them, and that enhance them.?

Which is why no one under the age of eighteen will be served tea at this establishment.

Regienald Hamilton
?I cannot just push off tea for anyone just to say have. It is not anyone that can come in and have a glass of tea. If you are ill bad, it?s not the right way to go. Because as much as I am here to prevent, I don?t want to cause any problem to anyone if they come to me, I want them to feel better. My goal is to get that person help.?

This bush doctor says while his aim is to heal, a big part of what he does is preventative medicine and he always makes sure he refers seriously ill patients to medical professionals.

Hamilton says he has been practicing the art of healing for the last eight and a half years and feels he has enough experience to help people not only get well, but say healthy.

Regienald Hamilton
?Well, my knowledge is simple. I am thirst and I am in the process of receiving knowledge. I must say that you never stop learning until you die. Knowledge keep on improving and I am thirst. I love seeing people being healthy. I love forwarding the resource and knowledge that I have gotten imparted to me. And I am here to depart that knowledge; I won?t be a selfish healer.?

Hamilton says there will be forty-eight different kinds of teas on his menu. For the next week, free samples are being offered to prospective clients, in the hope of building a lasting relationship. Patrick Jones, for News 5.
