Why Was U.S. Ambassador Absent from F.O.B. Groundbreaking?
On Wednesday, ground was ceremoniously broken for the construction of a joint forward operating base near the mouth of the Sarstoon River. Present for the brief formality were a number of government officials, including the ministers of National Security, Education and Public Service. Noticeably absent were other invited guests, particularly the United States Ambassador and the British High Commissioner. While invitations were extended to both diplomats, they were no-shows at the event. According to Ambassador Moreno, the offer was made on short notice.
Carlos Moreno, U.S. Ambassador
“I think Minister Saldivar would confirm this, the notice that we got was quite short and we got an invitation from the Minister of National Security, as well as from the Minister of Foreign Affairs. This week, with all the events happening before the holidays it simply was impossible for us to attend that ceremony some four hours away and so forth. So it was a bad day and the notice was very short.”
He couldn’t make it because he was busy with plans to bring spy’s to Belize in the new building .
For the U.S our little official issues are not so important to them ones it doesn’t benefits them. simple as that. They come quickly if it’s something of interest to them and they will benefit. Mr. Moreno thinks we Belizeans don’t know it. We’ve been watching the U.S for a long time how they monopolies the worlds issues when they see it fit for them and not for others. Send them a letter of protest for being absent in an important thing issue our Jewels national security problem.
