Buses Collide in Separate Road Traffic Accidents

Today seemed to have been a day for accidents involving buses and the resulting traffic jam which made already congested roads unbearable. Early this morning it was a collision just off the Haulover Bridge between a Ramos Bus and another bus carrying commuters to Ladyville. It happened just after seven and while there were no reports of significant injuries, the collision blocked the major artery into Belize City for almost an hour before Police were able to clear the roadway. This evening there was another accident, this one more serious, on the George Price Highway near Benque. Reports reaching News Five indicate that a school bus heading from Benque to Cayo collided with an Isuzu truck loaded with goods. Both drivers received significant injuries from the impact, and both were transported to the San Ignacio Hospital for treatment. The damaged bus and goods from the truck meant that the road was impassable for more than an hour while Police processed and cleared the scene.
