Embattled Coast Guard Officer Keyren Tzib is Out on Bail

Keyren Tzib will be home for the holidays. After walking up and down the steps of the Supreme Court many times, the court today granted the coastguard officer bail. She is accused of the manslaughter of her common law husband who she stabbed to death at their Lord’s Bank home during a domestic dispute. At the time of the stabbing, Tzib was on bail for the shooting of another coastguard officer months before. News Five’s Isani Cayetano reports on the bail hearing.

Keyren Tzib, the troubled coast guard officer accused of fatally stabbing her common-law husband earlier this year in Lord‘s Bank, is at home tonight after being released on bail.  Freedom for the beset young woman comes after successive bail applications at the Supreme Court.  In July, following a domestic dispute with her live-in boyfriend Thytis Blancaneaux, Tzib reportedly inflicted a single stab wound to his shoulder leaving him to expire in a pool of his own blood.  While she was never charged with murder, Keyren was arraigned for manslaughter, having committed a second violent offence this year.  Viewers would recall that Tzib was also arrested and charged for the attempted murder of fellow senior coast guard officer Kurt Hyde.  They were returning to base from San Pedro when Tzib trained her service weapon on the thirty-year-old Petty Officer and fired a single shot to his face.  That incident would be the beginning of her run-ins with the law.  While she underwent a psychiatric evaluation and subsequently released on bail, she resumed her relationship with Blancaneaux.  Following an evening of drinking, the couple got into a heated argument and shortly thereafter Tzib produced a knife and struck Blancaneaux once.  After being charged with manslaughter on September second, she applied for bail in the courtroom of Justice Troadio Gonzalez but was unsuccessful.  Tzib was refused bail after Justice Gonzalez took into consideration strong objections from the crown.  Likewise, testimony from Doctor Richard Olivera, who confirmed that Tzib is afflicted with an acute disorder known as anxiety syndrome, was taken into consideration.  This morning, she returned to court and was successful in her application for bail.  While the media tried getting a hold of her, she was whisked from the area by family and friends.
