Will Bradley Paumen’s Indictment Affect Dark Night’s Tourism Operation?

The sensational and very disturbing case of Dark Night owner Bradley Paumen continues to attract major scrutiny. Paumen, charged with four counts of Abetment to Murder, is out on fifty-thousand dollars. Two of Paumen’s employees, Ian Skeen and Linzburn Anderson, are behind bars tonight. They were charged on Monday for Abetment to Murder. Paumen is believed to have hired a hit man to kill four persons. Skeen and Anderson are believed to have delivered the payment, with Skeen additionally soliciting the contract killer on Paumen’s behalf. At the centre of this deadly tangle is land, belonging to primary target Michael Modiri. That land lies between Paumen and Paumen’s Dark Night caves. Dark Night as a tourism industry player has been in the spotlight before, as local tour operators believe that Paumen continues to be given preferential treatment by the government of Belize. One of the most vocal tourism stakeholders blasting Dark Night’s operation is Cave-tubing Dot Com’s Yhony Rosado. Today he told us that he is happy that Paumen has finally been revealed as the monster he is. But he doesn’t believe that it’ll make a difference in the scheme of things, not where tourism dollars are concerned.

“Mister Mike came to me personally and asked me to gather some local tour operators and we can use the caves too. He said all he wants is a little bit of money for his property because everybody is making money through the caves at Dark Night. So Mister Mike was asking just to be fair if the guys could give him a thousand dollars a week between all of us we could use his property. Mr. Mike is the land between Mr. Paumen’s caves, but Mr. Mike has a piece of the caves. But we saw the problem. We saw the problem where he and Paumen were fighting over the land, with NICH involved and the Ministry of Lands involved. And why would we want to involve ourselves in that knowing that we have enough problems with FECTAB and the cruise tourism and Carnival and all those things, cause we are having serious fights?”

“Now that this has emerged what do you foresee going forward? Do you foresee the local operators getting into that business or gaining from it?”

“I see nothing happening. Unfortunately we live in Belize. The natural thing for me to see is that now that the media has come out with all these things about Mr. Paumen, the government should grant access to all local tour operators…if this is a good government. But we won’t see that. Or maybe I might be wrong. The real thing for us to see clear is to have the two caves open for local tour operators.”
Late one night Uncle Benji fired a gun in the air, the bullet hit an olive tree. The young tree eventually died. Uncle Benji was incarcerated for six long Texan years. Crime? Recklessly killing an olive tree. After jail time, Benji was deported back to Belize like a hound dog.
Bradley Paumen is being accused of plotting to kill people, not olive trees. But because these people are Belizeans, an olive tree has more value. Knotty head Benji had the brown eyes of Satan so he got six years. Paumen has the eyes of an angel, so we need to treat him gingerly.
Of course he is going to skip the border if things get sticky for him. There is no way he is going to do jail time in Belizean jails. John McAfee ran away, no problem. Bradley Paumen ran away no problem.
