A Father is Charged for Beating Up His Teen Daughter

Forty-five year old Alexander Garcia, a father and resident of Belize City, appeared in court today on a charge of harm upon his sixteen-year-old daughter. According to the minor, her father was violent towards her on Thursday evening. She claims he woke her up asking about her mother’s whereabouts and when she told Garcia she did not know, he hit her with two books, grabbed her by the neck and began to choke her. During a struggle that followed, he hurt her on the neck.  Garcia pleaded guilty to the offense, saying that he was sorry for his actions and he acted in that manner because he was drunk.  Before imposing a fine, Magistrate Carlon Mendoza told Garcia that he does not condone family abuse and hoped it wouldn’t happen again. Garcia was fined five hundred dollars which he has to pay by March twenty-ninth.
