Fire Guts Storehouse in Corozal Free Zone

A mid-afternoon fire in the Corozal Free Zone has eviscerated a three-storey concrete warehouse.  The seventy-five by seventy-five foot structure, property of Orange Walk businessman Amit Moriani, went up in flames sometime around three o’clock today.  While the P and P building is said to be insured, police and fire officials have been unable to determine the contents of the stockrooms.  Neither have they been able to ascertain what caused the fire. News Five spoke by phone with Superintendent Dennis Arnold, Officer Commanding Corozal Police.  He told us that at the time he left the scene of the fire, sometime after five o’clock this evening, thick, heavy smoke was still emanating from the warehouse.  According to the senior officer, the blaze was being battled by local firemen with assistance from Mexican authorities.
