Bikers Converge on Belize City
Since 2013 the Black Pearl Motorcycle Club has been coordinating the Belize Bike Rally, bringing together motorcycle aficionados from North, Central, and South America, hence the title “Meet in the Middle”. Though there are similar rallies throughout the Americas, Belize’s positioning, geography and multilingual environment offer a unique experience for visiting road warriors. Organizers for the event say that this year’s rally promises to be bigger than any other so far, and not just because of the amount of people participating. Local clubs have been popping up all over the country, and with both interest and skill on the rise, the customized bike seems to be a growing trend. The three-day rally began on Thursday with a meet and greet as riders began arriving. Nigel Espat from Black Pearl Motorcycle explains what’s happening later today and on Saturday.

“This is the third running of the Belize Bike Rally, we started registrations yesterday and we are continuing that today, we are expecting a whole lot more bikes today than what came in yesterday. But yesterday alone for this time around we had four times more bikes coming into Belize on Thursday than we did the two prior events, we already did about two hundred and twenty-five more bikes from the prior years, which we had probably around fifty or sixty there about so we are expecting this to be bigger than it was the first two years. Tonight we have a concert at the princess pool side, that is open to the public. We are asking for a donation of ten dollars. We have three rock bands, we have Abraxas, Legacy and Almost Seven and we will also be doing the draw of the 2015 Harley Davidson that we have been raffling. Tomorrow we do a ride around Belize City like we do every year. We are hoping to get started by nine o’clock. Usually we end going down Albert Street and Regent Street but there is the Street Art Festival so that takes Albert Street out of the game, what we will do is go down Central American Boulevard, down Caesar Ridge Road, into Regent Street.”
Another big draw for the event is the Black Pearl Harley Davidson Raffle. The Lucky winner stands to win a brand new 2015 Harley Davidson worth around thirty thousand dollars.
