Courtenay and Elrington Set Aside Differences in the Interest of Belize

Eamon Courtenay

The P.U.P. leader told News Five on Thursday that Senator Eamon Courtenay continues as his chief representative on the advisory group to the Belize/Guatemala issue. Former Minister Assad Shoman has moved on. Now, Minister Elrington and Senator Courtenay have not always seen things eye to eye. Courtenay was this morning asked about the relationship with Elrington.

Eamon Courtenay, Opposition Representative

“Mister Elrington and I are professionals and we will do, I will do—let me speak for myself—I will do what my party asks me to do and I will do it in a professional way. I have no problem appearing in a press conference with Mister Elrington on a matter such as this. I work in the interest of my country first.”

  1. Ed U. Kate says:

News 5 May 29, 2015 Former Foreign Minister, Eamon Courtenay proudly said: ”Now the island in the Sarstoon River, a part of it is on the north side of the midline and therefore it’s in Belizean territory and another part of it is in Guatemalan territory, on the south side.” Johnny Briceno was WRONG to move Assad. Dr. Shoman knows that the Sarstoon Island is 100% within Belize. Our side need a knowlegable individal. Elrington knows the facts of history sell and will run circles around Eamon. Our side will continue to look incompetent.
