A New Theme Unveiled for Destination Belize Magazine
On Tuesday night, the Belize Tourism Industry Association, in collaboration with the Belize Tourism Board and McNab Publishing unveiled the new theme for the 2016/2017 Destination Belize Magazine. “Travel Curious: This Journey Will Change You,” is expected to capture the unique cuisine, locations and cultural experiences of the country. The B.T.I.A. has been working on its new marketing platforms and strategy including, a Destination Belize app, an E-Book as well as a website. Executive Director of B.T.I.A., John Burgos spoke to News Five today about the rebranding of magazine.

“We decide to do a different approach this year. We wanted to get as much people involved in the whole process of ensuring that the rebranding of the Destination Belize magazine covers all angles. Based on that, we decided to open up a little discover to uncover competition whereby we wanted to see the views from the people that are traveling within the country of Belize, experiencing the beautiful locations that we have in Belize. We decided to finalize that competition with the event last night. The turnout was excellent in terms of the quality of the individuals that take their photography very serious. OUT 01:04
IN 01:31 the key thing is that we want to ensure that we portray the right image about Belize, given the negative news with the problems with our neighbors across the border and the crime earlier this year. We want to ensure that Belize…because we know that Belize is not about that. Belize is a safe haven; it welcomes all travelers—whether local or foreign. So we tried to capture that and of course we had some interviews with different individuals who come to Belize. And one of the key things that they always say is that they are impressed with what we offer: the experience, the cuisine, the culture and the people, especially the people. I must say that we sat down with different stakeholders: from B.T.B., McNab, we even had a member from OCEANA as part of the team and of course B.T.I.A. members as well to be able to contribute. And after careful selection, very detail discussions, we came up with a final theme of “Travel Curious; This Journey Will Change You.” So that’s what we are going to be looking at and this is what’s going to dictate the content of the magazine, the layout and everything.”
The official launch of the magazine will be held in September. The magazines will be distributed through a marketing agency in Europe, Diplomatic offices across the world and at hotels and resorts across Belize.
