Nicholas Swazo Charged for Murder of George Street Boss

Nicholas Swazo, the man accused of killing Gerald ‘Shiny’ Tillett last Saturday in Dangriga, has been arraigned on a number of charges related to the deadly weekend shooting.  As we reported previously, Swazo was shot twice in the back during a savage attack at the Wadani Shed which left Tillett dead and three others, including himself, critically injured.  Swazo remained bedridden and under police guard at the Western Regional Hospital for over a week before appearing in magistrate’s court for his indictment.  It is uncertain what triggered the deadly assault but it is also public knowledge that there has been a history of enmity between the George Street and South Side gangs.  Shiny, the reputed leader of the George Street Gang, was buried on Saturday in Belize City.
