A Plan to Internationalize Belize’s Territorial Dispute with Guatemala

There has been much discussion regarding the internationalization of the Belize/Guatemala dispute and the need for the world to become familiar with what is taking place between both countries.  While it is widely seen as a task for the government, the N.T.U.C.B. plans on doing its own global awareness campaign, beginning first with the Caribbean Congress of Labor.

“Let’s not forget one, that we are indeed the maximum representation of all the employees in our country.  By virtue of that we are the voice of all the workers in the country, both nationally and internationally.  Internationally, we are affiliated to the Caribbean Congress of Labor where we will also resonate this call for our counterparts and our colleagues and our affiliates out there in the international arena to go to their governments and start to lobby for them to look into this situation at the CARICOM level and from there we’re taking it to the other international bodies that are global as well.  So we will that process of making this whole issue go to the international arena by pushing forward our views, our concerns to our affiliates in the Caribbean first and then making sure that it goes all the way to the global arena as well.”
