…Sample Comes Back Negative

Marvin Manzanero

Even though, there is some comfort with the negative result of zika, the Ministry of health is proceeding with its protocols on how to prevent the vector borne disease. Doctor Manzanero says that the ministry will be present at this weekend’s agric show where thousands are expected to converge.

On the Phone: Dr. Marvin Manzanero, Director of Health Services

“Specifically what can be done about the CDC travel alert, we can’t do anything. I believe CDC can place any advisory based on whatever information they feel. That’s a travel advisory for U.S. citizens. I don’t think we can control what CDC can post on their website. As I had mentioned to you, we did send a note to the CDC persons who had alerted us about this initial case on April the sixth. And that’s as far as much as we can go in providing the adequate and relevant information as it becomes available to us. The work has continued. It never really stopped; we just went specifically to other areas in search of potential cases, but the work is ongoing. This weekend for example, we plan to be at the agric show talking about topics of zika and HIV. And next week we are going to start preparations so that in tandem with the region, we’ll have a mosquito awareness week. And that’s just before the raining season starts.”
