$5000 Fine for Fatal RTA

Twenty-year old Boyd Lopez is home tonight following his sentencing for the February eighteenth, 2015 traffic fatality that took the life of seventy year old Marie Knowles. Knowles was walking on the side walk on Baghdad Street in Belize City when Boyd, who did not possess a driving licence, hit her. The elderly woman sustained injuries to her forehead, and other parts of her body. The forensic examiner ruled her death to be the cause of traumatic shock. Today at his sentencing, Judge Adolph Lucas ordered him to pay a fine of five thousand dollar which should be paid in two instalments by May 2017.
So a life is worth only $5,000! Shameful.
That isn’t even for the victim.
