Generals Jones and Perez to Meet Later this Week
While John Saldivar has been in the news of late mostly in reference to his bid for U.D.P. Deputy Leader, he is the Minister of National Security and border security features prominently in his portfolio. So when we had the opportunity we asked him about the incident on Friday in the Sarstoon, and also about the B.D.F.’s movement down that suddenly controversial river.
John Saldivar, Minister of National Security
“As far as I am aware we have not yet encountered that kind of restriction, but if they went today for changeover I have yet to be informed by my general if that went through smoothly, so I wouldn’t want to make any comments on that.”

“But last week they did go?”
John Saldivar
“Yes, we’ve been able to go successfully.”
Reporter
“Sir have the generals as far as you’re aware – General Jones and General Perez from Guatemala – been able to discuss what happened on Friday and why the media was stopped?”
John Saldivar
“I know that there has been discussion. I know that our General has spoken by phone with his Guatemalan counterpart and I know that they have set up for further discussions later on this week.”
