Monima Employment Investigated by Ministry of Labor
Audibaldo Monima Junior – he left the Coast Guard to take up a post as the Regional Health Manager in the North. It’s a post that calls for a Master’s Degree in Public Health Administration and five years of experience in health administration. Monima only has an Associate’s Degree in Business. Still, as happens so often, that would have been the end of that, except that the media got hold of it. After sustained pressure, Monima was given the option to resign or be removed, so to speak. He resigned, but reports to News Five indicate that the close affiliate of Minister of Health Pablo Marin, at his post less than a month, was offered three months of severance pay and other benefits. We brought it up to Minister of Labour, Hugo Patt, this morning and he told us that the matter is under investigation.
Hugo Patt, Minister of Labour
“That is a situation that we are looking at with the Ministry of health. I am not in that capacity to give you the details, but certainly that is one in which we have engaged for us to find how best we can find a solution to that particular case.”

“In terms of fairness sin labour which is one of the principles you operate under, did you have concerns about his appointment?”
Hugo Patt
“We got to know about it. As I said we have the Commissioner of labour looking into that situation. In terms of fairness I can tell you that fairness is extended to everybody. It doesn’t apply to a particular person or a particular individual or a particular entity. We have a service to do and we do it and that service we do with our best capacity to all.”
Ivan Williams, Commissioner of Labour
“We received complaints and we are going to look into it. I can’t give any more details than that because we are professionals. We don’t talk about people’s cases in the media with due respect. So yes we will carry out an investigation.”
