Did Phillip Willoughby Recommend William Mason for CEMO?
To be fair to Mayor Bradley, he genuinely didn’t recognize Mason and told us he was recommended by Councilor Phillip Willoughby who is responsible for CEMO. Still, he maintains that there was no way he could have known that Mason is allegedly a scam artist, and could be responsible for such a heinous crime.
Darrell Bradley, Belize City Mayor
“We can be next to people and not know anything about those people. That person I would think, in terms of CEMO—I am not the person who is technically involved in all of these aspects—but that somebody speaks at a CEMO symposium doesn’t mean anything. I think everyone would have been outraged rightly so by what happened and surprised. So that if anyone of you did something like that, I would have been surprised—not that I know you, I would have said man yo got wah job, yo got wah business, you are professional; you are articulate. Why would you do something like that? But I wouldn’t put my head on no block for any ah unu. I don’t know you like that. And what I am saying is that somebody comes to a CEMO symposium, which is a public event, that somebody speaks at a podium, it doesn’t mean that we represent that that person is a saint; that we know that person. I don’t see the connection. I don’t see the connection at all.”
