GSU Commander Mark Flowers, A Fugitive from Justice

Mark Flowers, head of the infamous Gang Suppression Unit, is tonight a fugitive from justice, according to a police source. Over the weekend, an arrest warrant was issued for Flowers, who was out of the country on vacation leave. The news broke last week that a report had been lodged at the Domestic Violence Unit in Belize City accusing Flowers of sexually abusing a minor, thirteen, earlier this year. News Five has been reliably informed that an immediate investigation determined that there was enough evidence to charge senior cop Flowers. He re-entered the country this weekend and we are told that as a courtesy he was given the option to turn himself in Monday morning, or the police would come for him and he did not. Well here’s the thing. News Five has confirmed that Flowers was actually intending to give a press conference this morning in which he would have revealed information that he possesses, allegedly on the relationship between his boss, Minister of National Security John Saldivar and accused murderer William Mason. Flowers frequented the home of Mason in Belmopan, and so did Saldivar. But there was no press conference, and Police have confirmed that Flowers is a wanted man.  Flowers, who is known to be highly connected politically, is being represented by Senior Counsel Richard ‘Dickie’ Bradley.

“His instructions to me is that he has been notified verbally by his colleagues in the higher reaches of the police department that he will be charged and he is expected and is expecting to be charged anytime today or tomorrow. And he will be charged for an allegation of having unlawful sex with a minor and he has said to me and in fact he will say so to the press, because he is much more articulate than I am, he will say to the press when he was informed verbally that there had been a report against hi very recently, even though there was a previous report by the said minor and her family against another officer, he had said that he informed his superiors who mentioned the allegation that he feels so strongly that he is asking that there be a scientific approached towards the investigation. He is prepared to give up blood, semen, whatever liquid samples for a DNA test because…well he will explain it to you shortly. But basically that is the situation. So there are some matters in relation to this allegation against him which he is going to explain to channel five that there is much more to it than is being put forward to the public’s view. But to answer your question, he was notified some hours ago that he will be charged and that he is to present himself to the police station to be charged. And he has the details of those information. He lives in the Cayo district and I think that he will be talking to the press shortly on the matter.”
