GSU Boss Claims Mason Offered to Buy His Land

The former GSU boss Mark Flowers has gone on record to say that he gained access to the posh home of William Mason in Belmopan as part of a covert operation to investigate the businessman.  Up until then, there had been allegations made against Mason that he conned several prominent entrepreneurs out of large sums of money.  Supposedly acting on his own, Flowers met with Mason on at least two occasions during which an offer was made to take possession of Flowers’ land documents and use the property to expand Mason’s piggery.

“He’s talking farm talks, that he has the biggest pig farm in all of Belize.  I told him I have a farm and we’re talking and we’re talking about pigs.  And he asked me what kind of pigs I had, but I don’t have any pigs but to keep the conversation flowing I told him, I said I have just common pigs, you know, just ordinary pigs.  He corrected me, he said well that is not how pigs are classified.  Well I said, well, you know, that’s my business.  Then he goes on to tell me and state his interest in getting my farm.  He asked me to transfer my farm documents to him as a project and that in four years he was going to pay five hundred thousand dollars.  I told him, I said that is interesting because the farm is not worth that much money.  But I am not going to sell my farm but I told him yes.  But when will you pay the five hundred thousand, now?  He said, no, no.  Then his wife interjected, she said no.  She said at the end of the period that we are going to use the land.”
