John Saldivar Will Not Resign
Accused kidnapper and murderer William ‘Danny’ Mason is preparing to spend his second full week as an involuntary guest at the Belize Central Prison, but the bizarre circumstances of his detention, and subsequent revelations continue to generate increasing interest. Perhaps the most attention has been focused on Minister of National Security John Saldivar who has admitted to a close relationship with Mason, at least, he says, up to September of last year. As we reported on Wednesday, Mason claims that he and Saldivar maintained ties long after September, and went so far as to say he bought thirty percent of the Belmopan Bandits from Saldivar. As if his association with Mason hasn’t been burden enough for Saldivar to bear, he’s also caught up in an unpleasant situation with GSU Head Mark Flowers. Flowers is accused of the sexual abuse of a minor and is currently behind bars. He alleges that he has been set up by Saldivar and suggests that he has much more information on the minister which he will provide to Prime Minister Dean Barrow. Let’s just say these aren’t the best of times, but tonight we can confirm that contrary to reports, Saldivar has no intentions of resigning. Following a media report last night that he was, Saldivar posted on his Facebook page, “I understand that Love FM has erroneously or maliciously reported that I have or am planning to resign. Let me state categorically that I have absolutely no intention to resign from political life. On the contrary, I am even more determined to carry on with my dedicated service to the people of Belmopan and the country of Belize. The last two weeks I have been the victim of malicious fabrications, absurd conjectures, wild speculations and insinuations and character assassination undoubtedly aimed at destroying me politically. I have taken all that has been thrown at me in stride because I have done nothing wrong and am not guilty of any act of corruption or subversion of justice as is being suggested in certain quarters. I have done nothing that I am ashamed of and nothing that would warrant my resignation.”
Who is responsible for removing a cocky arrogant corrupted high ranking official in government when that person refuses to leave even after causing grave harm to the ministry that he represent?> The Attorney General’s office? The Supreme Court? The Prime Minister? Just asking.
This is all talk which is very cheap, let us wait and see what will be revealed in the weeks ahead. I believe there is much, much more that lies ahead. It is just a matter of time. Creole seh” time longa dan rope”.
Typical GOB corrupt politician. This big bellied fool should never have been put in such a high ranking and important position. He has no experience or expertise to hold the job and now he has shown his corrupt colors. You elected him people, now you pay the price.
The whole system in Belize is corrupt .It starts with the PM.They’re running the country just like how they run their homes.
The man’s giant ego is making him too stupid to see that resigning is the right thing to do.
