PM Claims Flowers’ Fall From Grace is Regrettable
In the sensational interview prior to his arrest for Unlawful Sexual Intercourse, Flowers alleged that he had been set up by the Minister of National Security. Whether he was set up or not, it’s a significant fall from grace for the man who has claimed love for the Prime Minister and has been seen at many political events glued to his side. Today, the Prime Minister claimed that he would never deny that Flowers is his friend, and he is sorry to see him brought so low.
Prime Minister Dean Barrow
“I have known him to be a very bright officer. I was there for naturally thrown for a loop when I got the news of his being charged for the offense or offenses for which he must now stand trial. He certainly is entitled to the presumption of innocence which our law in our country gives to all accused persons. He will have his day in court and he professed his innocence and I hope for his sake that he is able to vindicate those protestations. I have inquired and I know that in terms of the victim or the alleged victim, that the Human development sort of social services ministry was sort of involved in interviewing the child and the police assure me that especially because it was Superintendent Flowers, one of their own involved, they knew that they had to proceed extremely carefully by the book, according to the strict letter of their obligations in circumstances such as these and that is an assurance that they have given to me.”
I hope that other officers or workers in similar positions as Flowers realize that they are ALL expendable. Minister first, Minister first, and Minister first.
