Prime Minister Admits to Corruption in Government
So no clear evidence means no repercussions for Saldivar, or any other cabinet minister, just yet. The PM admits that there is corruption in government and will always be corruption in government, but claims that as he has on some unspecified occasion or occasions in the past, he will deal with it.
Mike Rudon
“Sir this evidence which you have not gotten I believe is hardly likely to appear in on your desk in a beautifully wrapped gift box. You have all the resources of government at your disposal. Have you given some thought to perhaps starting your own investigation, asking questions to find out if there is corruption within your cabinet and to what levels?”
Prime Minister Dean Barrow
“We are always on the lookout for corruption. And again…one thing I am not is a hypocrite. Of course there is corruption in government. There has always been corruption in government; there will always be corruption in government. It is my job to try an ensure that I do all I can to keep corruption at a minimum, to try to eliminate it—which really is perhaps wishful thinking. But certainly, once there is evidence of corruption on the part of any member of my cabinet to make sure that I act as I have acted in the past.”
“. . .that I act as I have acted in the past.” Guess that tells us where all of this is going . . . no where!
I have spent ten years cultivating corruption in government. Just as any parasite knows there is a fine balance in minimizing corruption and maximizing corruption profits Not every GOB employee can be a thief, they must pass tests and apply to the Forty Thieves, before being considered for interview. If everyone was a thief, to maximize corruption, it could put me out of work, hypothetically.
My Goodness,
this is the most pitiful response from the Prime Minister. Can’t believe he said their will always be corruption. He is not trying to rid the country of corruption as he is up to his ears in the corruption. All you Belizean’s that work so hard to provide for you family, while you know your children will not have a future because of men like PM Dean Barrow.
Belize is done.
Mr Borrow if you know there’s corruption in the government why not do something about it. You do know you can fix the problem if you want to..but you won’t fix the problem because you are the problem you should be ashamed of yourself Mr prime minister..you sit there and play dum..while you and cohorts are busy putting our beloved Belize into the ground..where is the honor and integrity I quests you lost it when your bank account was getting bigger from your thievery of the Belizean peoples money and closing your eyes to the wicked will of your corrupt ministers who do as they please on the back of the Belizean people..shameful
