Why Was C.E.O. Ruth Meighan Denied Entry into the U.S.?

In Monday’s newscast we told you about NEMO C.E.O. Ruth Meighan’s unfortunate experience in Houston where she was denied entry to the U.S. Meighan, a senior official in the Prime Minister’s administration, has not provided an explanation, but today News Five was able to confirm that her visa was revoked some time ago. Meighan, according to government sources, has denied that she had any knowledge of that revocation. So why did the C.E.O. run afoul with the U.S. Government? That’s a good question. Meighan was Chief Elections Officer and took over as Director of Immigration in 2010. She was moved over to the Ministry of Finance in 2013, allegedly because she and then Minister of State Elvin Penner couldn’t get along. The Won Hong Kim documents were signed just weeks after Meighan left in February 2013, with the scandal breaking wide open months after, in September 2013. From there, Meighan was transferred to the Ministry of Finance before going over to NEMO as C.E.O. in November 2015. The closest we could find to a controversy was a rash of naturalizations, hundreds under Meighan’s tenure, just prior to the 2012 elections. We’re not sure that would warrant a sanction by the U.S. Still, we know that even after Meighan left as Director of Immigration, her signature remained on passports being issued subsequent to her departure.

Maybe this is what it’s going to take for our elected officials to make some drastic changes to our immigration system.
U S government should cancel her U S A visa for ever. There are many more whose visa to the U S A should be cancelled. Because of these people our Belize passport has lost credibility. When we travel to Mexico, the Mexican imigration do not trust our document.
