Teen Minor Charged for Friday Morning Murder
A seventeen-year-old who is no stranger to police is back behind bars where he will spend his eighteenth birthday. The minor was read a murder charge in the Belize Family Court for the Friday morning murder of thirty- year-old Jason Young, aka “Packson”. Young, a popular footballer, was shot dead at the intersection of Dolphin and Gibnut Streets around six-forty a.m. He was on his way to work and was leaving a tacos stand where he had just bought breakfast.
ACP Chester Williams, Regional Commander, Eastern Division South
“A police officer was in the immediate vicinity who made chase at the suspect and the suspect was caught shortly thereafter; he was still dressed in the same manner in which the police had seen him fleeing the scene. And we have statements from other persons who collaborate what the officer had said and so we were able to make an arrest in the matter. You would know however that Marvin is the twin brother of Mark and they are identical twins. So there was a little bit of situation in terms of determining which of the two was the one who did the crime. But eventually we overcame that hurdle and we have taken DNA sample from both of them and the samples were sent abroad for testing.”
The minor is one of three persons accused of attempted murder on another man earlier this year. He was accused of laywaiting their victim through the alley behind a school in the neighbourhood and shots were fired; however the target escaped and the accused minor was apparently accidentally shot by one of his own accomplices.
