An eleven year old is allegedly sodomized by sibling
There is a despicable report coming out of the Cayo District involving the sexual assault of an eleven-year-old boy in Santa Elena. Even more disturbing is that the minor was allegedly sodomized by his sixteen-year-old brother as he slept inside his room on Friday morning. Reports are that around three o’clock that morning, the minor woke up to find his brother anally penetrating him. It is known that the minor was taken to the Western Regional Hospital for medical attention and a doctor confirmed that the boy had been sexually violated. Belmopan Police have confirmed that statements were recorded from the victim and a relative and the Department of Human Services was notified. Today, C.E.O. in the Ministry of Human Development, Judith Alpuche, further confirmed to News Five that there is an ongoing investigation. The ministry is working closely with the police in the process and their role is to ensure the child’s safety. According to Alpuche, sex with a child under sixteen is illegal and both boys and girls have equal protection under the laws of 2013, and it is being treated as a child sexual abuse case. Alpuche further stated that the child is not where the perpetrator is located and is safe.

My heart goes out to this child. I really hope that Social Services does not slip up and gives this child and family the due attention they so desperately deserve. Hopefully the Churches step in and help out if they are not too busy…
