B.P.P. Treasurer Has a “William Mason Story”
Weeks after he first made headlines, the threads continue to unravel in the story of accused con man turned alleged kidnapper and murderer, William “Danny” Mason. And the staggering scale of his many acquaintances and connections, both professionally and privately, is still being measured. During Thursday’s press conference, Treasurer of the Belize Progressive Party, Robert “Bobby” Lopez, discussed his family business’ brush with the infamous Mason.

“Actually, I must say my children reminded me that he did come into my showroom with his wife and he looked around and he was talking about opening a restaurant. That was the extent of his interacting with my business; we never heard if the restaurant opened, and when this whole thing blew up they said, “That’s the same guy that came in and said he wanted to get furniture for the restaurant,” and I’m so glad that didn’t work out or I don’t know if he – if he bought the furniture somewhere else, because we hear that even the elected people don’t even know if it’s a restaurant or a bar or a home! But they certainly enjoyed the service.”
The party says it wants international investigators to study the Mason saga.
