Utilities’ Union Warn of Threat to Way of Belizean Life

The unions representing the workers of the three major utilities in Belize say that the recent judgment, and the Government’s failure to react and respond in defense of its people, highlights the fact that ill will of a few is being rammed down the throats of the masses. According to the utility unions, even though the Belizeans do not approve of the lifestyle choices of the members of the LGBT community, they have been allowed them to live their lives the way they choose. The release from the union states that as such, Belizeans must not allow this judgment to create the opportunity for any hidden agenda to become part of “a normal way of life.” This, says the union, poses a serious threat to our society, values and morals; while at the same time creating a mockery of the core values of the nation’s constitution. They go further to tell the government that stepping aside and shying away from their responsibility is a blatant disregard for the Belizean citizens and a slap in the face of all Belizeans who have a firm belief in the true meaning and value of morality as taught in the Bible. They also call on the government to appeal the ruling all the way to the highest court.
