Southside Commander Says G.S.U.’s Aggressive Tactics Not Welcome
ACP Williams says that the incident is counterproductive to the efforts that they have put in place. He laid out why the Gang Suppression Unit’s aggression is no longer welcome in his jurisdiction.
ACP Chester Williams, Regional Commander, Eastern Division South
“It had been very difficult for us to get where we are and we are at a point where I believe that we had gained significant inroads in the way that we work with the community and how the community respect us and I do not want to lose what we have gained. And so I implore upon the GSU; if they want to come and do work on south side Belize City, they can come, but they must come in a manner that is conducive to the style of policing that we do. If they are going to come in any aggressive manner and try to intimidate or cause any aggression then my advice to them is to stay out of south side Belize City.”
Chester Williams SHUT UP PLEASE!!! obviously what you have been doing (brokering deals with gangs and treating gang leaders like respected and productive members of the community) has not been and will never work. Empowering street gangs to the point that they believe they are to be recognized and respected is the most asinine idea I have ever heard a Government/Police Department devise. Let the GSU treat these thugs the way they need to be treated and stay out of their way!
