Chamber of Commerce Pressures Belmopan to Sign UN Anti-Corruption Convention
The Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry has begun a campaign for Government to sign the United Nations Convention on Anti-Corruption, which it believes will help Belize obtain important resources to fight this issue. It is not the first time the Chamber has spoken out on this issue but according to President Nikita Usher, a coalition is being built to bring pressure on Belmopan.

“We have actually launched letters to social partners, to tertiary institutions, and we’ve gotten responses back from them including the political parties and the Government, of course, and the Governor General, of course. So we’re building a coalition, we have gotten good support out of it – I would not want to declare all of those supports as yet, but it’s ongoing.”
Usher says a meeting was held with the Government today; a committee has been established to look into the matter.
We the people! Time to clean house.
