…And chairman’s wife owns company that supplies K.H.M.H.
And while the controversy rages on at the K.H.M.H., there is more coming to light on the purchasing of supplies at scandalous prices. One man in the centre of the storm is Chairman of the Board, Dr. Ricardo Fabro. On Monday, News Five showed a copy of the memorandum which approves his handsome salary of three thousand five hundred dollars and additional allowances even though the board only meets once a month. Earlier today, News Five received information that indicates that there is far more to the tangled web. But to get bottom of this pit, this is what the hospital’s Director of Finance, Carlos Perrera, said only last Friday during the Board’s press conference in regards to the supply of medical supplies to the hospital.

“We inherited, where the purchases of supplies were being done with doctors who are employees of K.H.M.H. and who own and operate companies outside K.H.M.H. This created unnecessary conflict at the institution and at the same time significantly disrupted the supply chain management. We initiated the policy that the procurement of supplies and equipment will no longer be sourced by any employee that is with Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. Tenders are to supply K.H.M.H. all supplies requested and are not to sell those similar products to K.H.M.H. at an inflated price.”
But News Five has obtained a certificate of registration of M.C. Pharmaceuticals in Orange Walk Town. This is the company that allegedly got the green light to supply K.H.M.H. with seventy-seven thousand dollars of the medical supplies but ended up selling to K.H.M.H., seven hundred thousand dollars worth. And guess what? This business is owned and operated by Maira Yanet Cardona Moran. It was registered on March eighteenth, 2008 using a Dunn Street address in Orange Walk Town. Maira Yanet Cardona is the wife of Dr. Fabro. They live and have their business at the Dunn Street address. Interestingly enough, there is little paper trail on MC Pharmaceuticals.
