Belize City Gets a New Brand

“Savour the Flavor, Feel the Energy”—it is actually the tagline for the new Belize City brand. The Old Capital has experienced an infrastructural and cultural renaissance, though it has not quite translated to the pockets of its seventy-plus thousand residents. But Mayor Darrell Bradley and the Belize City Council are undaunted, and this morning they took to the city streets in celebration, but not before giving a press statement.

“I think a brand says many things to many people. One of the iconic symbols is of course the Belizean flag; that promotes a lot of nationalism and pride. And the city itself can have a mark or a statement that really brings together the divergent people and views of the city towards a spirit of wanting to build the city so that a brand really represents what you are as a company, as an entity, as an organization and as a city. And in this brand we see a lot of diversity; in the brand we see reflection in terms of the fact that we are on the waterfront; we see a lot of the natural elements in terms of the environment—the fact that it can represent a coconut tree—the ease and relaxation that Belize as a country and the city offers. So that the brand really represents the best of our Belize City way of life and what we want to show to our residents and then also to visitors.”

A soft launch of the new Belize City Brand takes place on Thursday afternoon at the Belize Biltmore Plaza.

Where are all these faggity brands coming from? They don’t represent me- we now have a rainbow mask or soca costume to reflect Belize city? When I came for sep celebrations earlier his month I am greeted with a big rainbow letters saying he name of Belize I can see before I get off the plane – how did gays infiltrate he highest levels of decision makers here? I am ashamed to say where I come from when they ask me abroad – they already know about Caleb now perpetuation of this gay policy to all boards and cities? For gods sake stap it
