Chamber of Commerce Still Deciding on Possible Shutdown

The Belize National Teachers’ Union wrote to the Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Tuesday requesting their support for a shutdown of businesses on Thursday. According to the Union, they have done their part to issue the challenge to Government, and now they are asking the private sector to join in. But according to Chamber president Nikita Usher who responded to our request for comment via text this afternoon, the Chamber has received and acknowledged the letter and circulated it to their membership for feedback and guidance. As of this evening they are awaiting the various responses for compilation and a decision will be taken, though not likely in time for the B.N.T.U., who will take to the streets beginning Thursday morning countrywide.

Are they waiting until teacher stop their actions? What a pity of them. On another note teacher representation should be in that team preparing work to sign the UNCAC.
