Belizeans in Cayman Chip-in for Heart Patient Tyron Coleman

Tyron Coleman is off to the Cayman Islands. The James Bus Driver who was seeking medical assistance to get a heart surgery done abroad, left today for the Cayman Islands. A group of Belizeans living on the Islands saw Coleman’s plight and have pooled together to help him get the lifesaving surgery. Today, we spoke with Coleman’s sister-in-law Dorla Williams who gave us an update:

“We are looking forward to getting him out of K.H.M.H., out of Belize rather to Grand Cayman to the Health City Hospital there. We got help from the Belizean community in the Cayman Islands. They have offered tremendous support to raise funds in Cayman Islands to help us to pay some of the bills. But we still have bills that we have to pay as part of the hospital expense, so we still need funding.  He will probably be there like a week or two.”

“But he leaves for Cayman within today- tomorrow?”

“Today. Sometime today.”

“How is his condition right now in the hospital? Is it deteriorating rapidly?”

Dorla Williams

“His condition is stabilized right now in K.H.M.H.  They have been doing an excellent job. I must commend Doctor Coye and the staff at K.H.M.H.”

“How did he receive this news that he’s going to get this life saving surgery?”

Dorla Williams

“Well, there is finally hope.”

Andrea Polanco

“So, he was pretty excited?”

Dorla Williams

“Yes. He is excited and he is you know looking forward to life, to living.”

The cost of the surgery and air ambulance is sixty one thousand and six hundred dollars, but the family still needs to raise fifteen thousand dollars.
