Stricken Coast Guard Officer Gets Medical Boost From Mexico
Coast Guard officer Daniel Arzu Junior was shot to the head on Monday evening in Belize City. He was attacked while visiting his child’s mother on Neal Pen Road, though the motive is not clear to police as yet. Today he was flown out for medical treatment in Mexico, after spending two days being stabilized after his head swelled. Both the Coast Guard and Police Department are pulling for Arzu Junior to recover, as his father and namesake is a senior police official. Superintendent Daniel Arzu Senior declined our request for an interview today and Coast Guard commandant Rear Admiral John Borland was not available. However, we understand that the Mexican National Naval Hospital in Mexico City is taking on costs of air ambulance and treatment.
