Video Emerges of Latest Confrontation Between Belize and Guatemala Forces in Sarstoon

Despite assurances that Belizeans and the B.D.F. can freely traverse the Sarstoon, News Five has obtained a video of another, more recent confrontation in the river between a Guatemalan gunboat and a B.D.F. patrol. The incident occurred as recent as October seventeenth, but there had been no official comment until today when we approached B.D.F. Commander David Jones.  The images show the Guatemalan gunboat fast approaching the B.D.F. vessel, getting within inches of the B.D.F. vessel as it attempted to block the patrol from traveling upriver. The amateur footage captures the B.D.F. requesting Guatemala’s military to comply with establish protocols, but the Guatemalans remained undeterred. Another Guatemalan vessel is also seen in the background. Here’s that video.
