Family Asks for Closure with Delayed Post-Mortem Examination

It’s been almost two weeks since Robinson died and a postmortem is yet to be performed to determine the cause of death. Her body remains in the morgue and Crawford says that she needs to put closure to the death of her daughter.

Pastor Mildred Crawford, Mother of Deceased

“The next day I asked advise and people told me to go to the Chief Medical Officer; I tried to find her and I couldn’t. But God worked it out; she came down to talk to somebody and I met her. And I said to her that I need a postmortem on my daughter because I don’t believe that she died from what the doctor said she died. She said but why come to me? I said it was just an advice and she said that’s easy. Go upstairs and tell the doctor I said to sign the form. So I went upstairs and I got up there and the doctor said can I help you. I said yes doctor, the lady said to sign a form; I need a postmortem done to my daughter. And she said, oh that’s your right. You have a right to do that and you can get that done in just a while. And then he started to look ina wah lee cabinet on the side of the wall and I will tell yo di truth, he was panicking. The man di panic. He didn’t expect me to ask for that. At five minutes to four I went back to him and I wait until he done deal with everybody and I said to him doctor, you really noh want sign this form right? I said doctor, you got something you deh di hide make you have me all day di sit down out there di wait fi you sign a form for me and you noh sign this form yet. And ih turn ih head around and he said, as you can see we are very busy and I said to him, I will see you tomorrow with my lawyer. He said what you said? I said I will see you tomorrow and I left. My lawyer called Mister Tillett and he was going off; because he put the phone on speaker and we could have heard. And he was like they don’t have to tell me anything; they don’t owe me anything because I was not the one who took her into the hospital. This is after I done sign the thing; at this point now. Everything is confidential and confidential and confidential and he mentioned that the next of kin had already signed a form stating that that next of kin don’t want an autopsy.”

“Who would that be?”

Pastor Mildred Crawford

“Well I do not know because he did not want to tell us.”

Calls to the hospital today did not provide any details as to the claims made by the family of Robinson.
