Woman raises funds for heart surgery
While many of you spent your day buying candy filled hearts to give loved ones on Valentine’s Day, one Belize City woman was out trying to raise money for open heart surgery. Adrian Lino, a cancer survivor, now finds herself diagnosed with an enlarged heart and a liver condition. She faces the daunting task of raising a large amount of money to pay for surgery abroad, and has been at it since before Christmas. She says she has approached a number of service clubs, but was told they mainly help children who need medical attention. Today, exhausted and hardly able to walk due to swelling in her ankles, thirty-seven year old Adrian Lino came to News 5, hoping some of our viewers would find it in their hearts to help her save her own.

“So far I need ten thousand dollars towards the surgery for the heart condition. I am trying to raise funds, making small barbecue sales and other stuff, possible when I can.”
“It’s been from October of last year, I find I am supposed to raise ten thousand dollars. I am just asking for assistance from whosoever, for any contribution possible towards the heart condition and the liver condition I am suffering from.”
(Crying) “I have five kids, and I had a surgery a couple of years ago for cancer and I am trying to do the best I can for my kids so if I can get the help, please help me, anybody that can.”
If you would like to help Lino, she will be selling barbecue on Saturday, at Constitution Park for five dollars. She has also opened an account at Atlantic Bank for those who are able to contribute larger amounts. That account number is 2105-99155. Lino can also be reached at telephone number 602-1426.
