Will BAHA Release Rejected “Green Ham” to Free Zone?

A consignment of a little over fifty thousand pounds of green ham, uncured meat, that was reportedly brought in from Miami after being rejected in Ecuador is sitting at the western border tonight. The shipment is under quarantine by the Belize Agricultural and Health Authority.  The name of the importer is unconfirmed, but we know that the businessman has an establishment in the Free Zone. We can also say that the ham is nearing expiration because reports to News Five are that the ham is stamped October fifteenth, 2015. That remains under investigation before a decision is rendered on whether or not it should be released.
