“To be honest, Isani, I don’t know how to feel right now. I just want justice for my son and I will not rest until I feel that he gets the justice that he deserves.”

“There has been quite a number of misperceptions about your son and I know that you would want an opportunity to set the record straight about who your son actually was. Would you care to comment to clear the air on those matters?”

“Yes. My son is not gang affiliated. We do not associate with those kinds and my son was never in no fight on the boulevard. After I listened to the news yesterday evening, I contacted the police in charge and he said he is clueless about any fight and that he doesn’t know where the media house is getting their information from. It is just rumors on the street. Again, my son was never in no fight that led to his death. In fact, he went to the store. He left his house 7:30; He left his dad 7:30 to go to store. My son was shot minutes after 8, riding back home from the store. I was at Calypso picking up food when I got the call. I dropped the food and went straight to his grandma’s place – at his dad’s and this was still few minutes after 8. And after that I head to the hospital and he was pronounced dead at 8:45.”

“They had chanced my grandson out of his life. I would have been satisfied if they had broke his arms or give him a slap because it is somebody much older than he is. Jaheem is just a baby; to me he is still a child. He just completed 15 years a month ago, so to me he is still a child. To have him die like this is very hurtful for the family. But all we do is just left everything in the hands of the almighty. I am a person that believes in my faith. I have a lot of faith. I am very strong and I am here with my daughter to support her and I just hope that we get justice for my grandson’s death.”
Too much senseless death. Parents if you know your children are on the wrong path set them straight. Belize is too small for this type of lifestyle and you won’t get to see your children growup to be productive men/women.
