AIDS Commission receives help from water co.
The donation may not be as large as Taiwan’s, but the message is huge. Today the National AIDS Commission received a cheque for just over two thousand dollars from Belize Water Services Limited. The money, which will go a long way toward making sure children with HIV and AIDS have a merry Christmas, was raised by the water company and its employees through a walkathon sponsored on November twenty-third.
Denise Palacio-Walker, P.R. Liaison, B.W.S.
“The AIDS walk was actually just one part of the programme that we have packaged in support of the National AIDS Commission’s work. The reason why we have decided to participate in this programme is simply because of the devastating effects that this disease has on anybody affected, on anybody who has to deal with anybody who is infected. This is just a part of B.W.S.’ way of being involved and trying to find a reasonable solution to this problem.”
Arreini Palacio, Advocacy Coordinator, N.A.C.
“The N.A.C. will be using the funds that they receive today for a Christmas campaign for persons and children living with HIV and AIDS. Baskets will be bought, toys and so on and we’ll have our support services give it out to the children and the families affected by HIV and AIDS.”
