Belizean author releases three books
The last big novel published by a Belizean to hit the local literary scene was Zee Edgell’s “In Times Like These.” This month three more titles are about to be added to the Belizean booklist. “The Moon Children”, “Good Angel Bad Angel” and “Seasons of Denial” are the work of writer Calvin Moir. Moir told News 5 that the stories, which are all fictional, are set in Colorado–where he currently resides–Belize and Florida.
Calvin Moir, Belizean Novelist
“Actually they surround passion, intrigue, violence, black magic, religion, politics. All the ingredients they are there.”
“People are my inspiration. I started writing when I was like fourteen years old. I got inspired from the newspapers here, which I used to work for, all the newspapers in Belize and just by listening to older people I got inspired. But that was my dream, to become a writer all my life.”
Patrick Jones
“Who are the people who should read your book?”
Calvin Moir
“Everybody. It’s for everybody. It’s about life; it’s about what happens in the future, which is gathered from the Bible.”
Moir’s novels are published by First Books Library, a not-for-profit publishing company in Indiana.
