Belizean Soldier Pilot Tops Training Course

A Belizean soldier is flying high after topping a fourteen-month course in pilot training in Jamaica. The Ministry of Defence and the Belize Defence Force took the opportunity to give out congratulations today to Captain Francis Usher, who placed first in the Wings Course 1601 pilot training course in Jamaica. Funding from the course came from the Canadian government. The B.D.F. last year took possession of three helicopters. Two Huey helicopters from Taiwan were assembled and brought to Belize a year ago in April, while a few months before that, authorities recovered a suspected drug plane brought down in the Blue Creek area. It has now been converted into the third member of the re-assembled B.D.F. air fleet.
