Calcutta Teen Tops CANTO Video Contest
There’s some good news…On the occasion of World Telecommunication and Information Society Day on May seventeenth, the Caribbean Association of National Telecommunications Operators (CANTO) has announced that a Belizean won the annual competition for the fourth time since its inception eleven years ago. Eighteen-year-old Jo-Elisa Clarke of Calcutta, Corozal District won with a video demonstrating ways of promoting and disseminating information to customers using technology. She used a water company to show how technology can develop a small business which could impact the entire country of Belize. Clarke says her trip to the thirty-third annual CANTO Conference and Trade Exhibition in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic will be a graduation gift as she celebrated her graduation on May twenty-first. She also gets a thousand U.S. dollars cash and a tablet. CANTO’s annual video competition was held under the theme of: “Technology and me- Exploring the Possibilities of ICT.”
